This policy explains how Sekai, the publisher of Volley Paws (the "Game"), a beach volleyball game played as an Activity inside Discord, processes your personal data: what we collect, why, for how long, who sees it, and what your rights are. We comply with the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and the French Data Protection Act.

Discord (Discord Inc.) is a separate, independent controller for everything that happens on its platform: your Discord account, servers, voice, and payments (Discord is the seller of the Game's purchases). That processing is governed by Discord's Privacy Policy, not by ours.
Sign-in. You sign in to the Game only through Discord (OAuth2), with the identify scope only. We receive your Discord user ID, your username (or display name) and your avatar. We receive no email address, no password, no friends list, no messages, no voice, and no payment details.

Local storage on your device. The Game keeps your settings (sound, controls, last mode) and your last chosen appearance in your browser (localStorage), and your session token for the duration of the session (sessionStorage). These are strictly necessary for the Game to work: no cookies, no trackers, hence no consent banner.
What we do not do. No advertising, no ad trackers, no third-party analytics or audience measurement (our statistics are computed by our own servers), no trackers or cookies, nothing on the volleypaws.com website, no marketing profiling, no automated decision-making, and we do not sell or rent your data. We do not collect your age or date of birth.
Founder Servers S1. The free "Founder Server S1" cosmetic shows that you played from a partner server; which server is not recorded with your profile. Partner servers (ID, name and emblem chosen by their admins) are listed in a registry.

Statistics: why our legitimate interest prevails. Our interest is to know whether the Game works: do players come back, are matches smooth, do communities play together. The impact on you is low: the data is pseudonymised at collection, used only for aggregate statistics (a figure covering fewer than 5 servers or players is never shown), with no profiling, no marketing, no advertising, no decision about you, no cross-referencing with other Sekai products, no third party, and it is deleted after 13 months. This processing follows the conditions of the French data protection authority's (CNIL) consent exemption for audience measurement (strictly statistical purpose, no cross-referencing, limited data kept 13 months at most). Players aged 13 and 14 (below the age of 15 set in France to consent on one's own): this processing does not rely on consent and has no effect on your game; your interests weigh more (GDPR recital 38), which is why collection is minimal, with no profiling and no reward attached, and your right to object (§8) takes a single email.

No one else: no advertising partners, no third-party analytics tools, no data brokers.
The Game's data is hosted in the European Union (EU West (Amsterdam, Netherlands)). Our host, Railway Corporation, is a US company: if its staff access the data from the United States, that transfer is covered by the EU-US Data Privacy Framework, in which it participates, and by the European Commission's Standard Contractual Clauses included in its data processing agreement. Discord, based in the United States, processes its own data under its own policy.
Discord is only available from age 13 (or the minimum age in your country), and the Game follows those rules. The Game does not ask for your age and does not try to infer it. No purchase is needed to play; a minor must have a parent's consent before any purchase. If you are a parent and believe we process your child's data without reason, write to us at support@volleypaws.com.
You may at any time request access to your data, its rectification, its erasure, the restriction of processing, its portability (JSON export), and object to processing based on legitimate interest. French residents may also set instructions for what happens to their data after their death.
How. Write to support@volleypaws.com with your Discord username and user ID. To check that the request really comes from you, we may ask for reasonable proof that this Discord account is yours. We answer within one month.
Objecting to statistics. Write to support@volleypaws.com: we delete your usage statistics and record none about you from then on.
Erasure. Erasing your data deletes your profile, your inventory (including purchased cosmetics, which we cannot refund), your vouchers, your pass, your XP history and your usage statistics. Only the purchase ledger is kept, pseudonymised (no longer linked to your Discord ID), for the period stated in §4. If you launch the Game again afterwards, a new empty profile is created.
If you believe your rights are not respected, you can lodge a complaint with the CNIL (Commission nationale de l'informatique et des libertés, 3 place de Fontenoy, TSA 80715, 75334 Paris Cedex 07, France, www.cnil.fr), or with the data protection authority of your country.
Traffic to and from the Game is encrypted (HTTPS). Session tokens are signed and expire. Access to the servers and database is restricted to the publisher.
We will notify you in the Game before any significant change to this policy. The last-updated date is shown at the top of this page.
